Lo que nos espera hoy en el ICHEP2010 en París en relación con la búsqueda del bosón de Higgs

El congreso más importante del mundo de física de partículas elementales se celebra cada dos años y se llama ICHEP. La edición 35 del ICHEP se inicia hoy en París. Se espera que además de los primeros resultados del LHC también se presenten los últimos datos actualizados de las búsquedas del bosón de Higgs en el Tevatrón y otras señales de física más allá del modelo estándar. Hoy habrá que estar al loro con lo que nos cuenten hoy en las siguientes charlas (búsquedas del Higgs hasta 6’8/fb en DZero y más de 5/fb en CDF):

  • Yoshikazu NAGAI, CDF_COLLABORATION, Tvatron (Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (FNAL)), «Standard Model low mass Higgs search at CDF,» 22-Jul-2010 16:40. «We have searched for the Standard Model Higgs boson in the low mass region using CDF detector at the Tevatron.   • Krisztian PETERS, CDF_AND_DZERO_COLLABORATIONS, Tevatron (Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (FNAL)), «Search for Standard Model Higgs boson in gamma gamma final state at the Tevatron,» 23-Jul-2010 14:25. «We present a search for Higgs bosons decaying to the di-photon final state using 5 fb-1 of data at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt(s)=1.96~TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. This decay channel will be of major importance in the light mass Standard Model Higgs search at the LHC.»
  • Pierluigi TOTARO, CDF_AND_DZERO_COLLABORATIONS, Tevatron (Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (FNAL)), «Search for Standard Model Higgs boson in di-tau final state at the Tevatron,» 23-Jul-2010 14:45. «We present a search for a Standard Model Higgs boson in events with a final state containing two taus and two jets at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. Inclusion of the data set up to 5.4 fb-1, and recent improvements to the sensitivity will be discussed.

Searches for charged and neutral Higgs bosons predicted in MSSM and NMSSM models will be discussed.»
  • Martin GOEBEL (DESY – Uni Hamburg) et al. «Status of the global fit to electroweak precisions data, and constraints on the Higgs boson,» 23-Jul-2010 16:15. «Gfitter results from the global Standard Model (SM) fit to electroweak precision data, including newest Tevatron measurements, are reviewed and discussed. Constraints on the Higgs and top-quark masses, as well as on alpha_s(M_Z), are studied in some detail, and outlooks to the LHC and ILC eras are presented. Information from the electroweak fit on loop contributions from beyond-SM models is obtained through an analysis of the so-called oblique parameters.»

For Standard Model searches we determine combined upper 95% C.L. limits on the ratio of the Higgs boson cross section times the branching ratio to its Standard Model prediction for Higgs boson masses between 100 and 200 GeV/c2.»
